Lis loved Big Sing in the Desert

2015, Bring Me Home, Connection

“Lis Tuck first came to Big Sing in the Desert in 2015.  She travelled from the North Coast of NSW. She decided at the camp that she really wanted to live in Central Australia.  It was calling her but it was a big decision to make to leave her home, her job, friends and family.  We met at Big Sing in the Desert and Lis ended up staying with me for a few weeks while she thought more about it and then made her decision.  After that, her journey was quite smooth, selling her house, and later driving back to the inland with her friend.  She settled in Alice Springs, and made a good life here, became involved in many groups and activities, always finding opportunities to sing with others.  Lis returned to Big Sing in the Desert twice more, making more friends, singing more songs.  The song Bring Me Home was very special to her and her new life in Alice Springs, in the way that it became of this country through being translated into three Central Australian Aboriginal languages.  Lis died in 2019.  Whenever I sing Bring Me Home I think of Lis.” – Joy Taylor, Alice Springs
