Big Sing in the Desert 2017

Our seventh year. Morris takes a holiday, and we are joined by the wonderful Valanga Khoza. He likes to dance and shows us some good moves!  Genise and Nicholas from Ntaria teach a Western Arrernte hymn. Irene from Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi  joins us. She was very happy to be there and sing with us.  Waltja has been helping Big Sing in the Desert every year with swags and trailer, and with bringing singers from remote communities to Ross River.  Irene tells Rachel that whenever the Waltja members get together they always sing. Liz plays beautiful piano. Lorraine and Clarabelle from Areyonga teach a painting workshop. Bring Me Home gets a new verse – in German.  There is even more beautiful art for sale! We have special artists in the group who do portraits of people and a shared painting. We sit down on the ground and learn Mayatja Altimani. Aunty Donna Meehan joins us from Newcastle. We all enjoy learning some doo wop with You Send Me.
