Big Sing in the Desert 2016
Thursday 21 April to Sunday 27 April 2016
Our sixth year. It’s really hot and people go swimming. The kids make a puppet show. The Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir have made a CD. The ladies teach us dance in the afternoon. Cooking damper and roo tail on the big fire has become a Big Sing in the Desert tradition! Rachel teaches Bring Me Home for the first time and the ladies make translations in Pitjantjatjara, Western Arrernte and Luritja. Thomas from Canberra flies his plane to the Big Sing for the first time. Morris teaches Somlandela. There are some really funny acts in the concert. Rachel has a birthday and dances around the fire with Daphne. We learn a new warm up with Rachel Wake Me which has lots of actions to do as well as singing. Nicholas from Ntaria shows his bird impressions during This Gentle Hum.
